Day 14: 4th Nov

sunny 30 °C

After breakfast we just relaxed at the villa and then we headed out for a bit of shopping. We went to Sandy Ground and had a look at a lovely boutique called Bijoux. I bought myself a lovely black cover-up/dress which was actually designed by the owner.
We then drove to Rendezvous Bay and had a swim in the sea. It was so hot on the beach that once we had dried off we just left. We went to the Blanchard's Beach Shack for lunch which was just as delicious as our previous visit. I opted for a very tasty veggie burger and we treated ourselves to some delicious homemade corn bread.
We went back to the villa and as the sky had clouded over, we just sat outside and read.
For dinner, we went to the Cuisinart Resort and their Tokyo Bay Japanese restaurant. Although the interior was very slick and city-like in feel, the sushi was some of the best we have ever had. The lobster roll in particular was amazing.

Day 13: 3rd Nov

sunny 30 °C

After breakfast up at the crow's nest, we headed out to Little Bay in the hope of some snorkelling action. The Bay looked absolutely beautiful when we arrived and there were a couple of sailing boats that had already arrived. Unfortunately the rope that used to give people access to the beach had been removed so we decided to leave.
We ventured a little further up the coast and found a very secluded spot called Limestone Bay where we had the beach entirely to ourselves. The current there is normally quite strong but the waves were unusually calm so we ventured straight into the water. We saw some lovely coral gardens and plenty of colourful fish. Once back on the beach we only stayed for 5 minutes as it was incredibly hot.
On our way back to the villa we stopped by our local supermarket and picked up lunch from their hot buffet counter. What a fantastic deal! It was $6 for a box full of delicious, local food.
We took it back to the villa while it was still warm and we relaxed by the pool once the sun had lost some of it's strength.
For dinner we booked Blanchards, our first ever visit to this island institution. The island has been quiet with tourists while we have been here and many of the restaurants are either not open yet or opening on a limited basis. However Blanchards was the place to be and it was entirely full.
We both had the delicious lobster and shrimp cakes to start and we elected to share the Caribbean sampler dish which arrived beautifully presented on a 3 tier stand. All three dishes and accompanying sauces were wonderful and we could easily see why this restaurant has remained at the top of it's game for so long.
Afterwards we took a quick walk along Meads Bay and then headed back to the villa.

Day 12: 2nd Nov

sunny 29 °C

After breakfast again up in the crow's nest, we did a spot of swimming and sunbathing at the villa. We took a drive to the Frangipani Resort on Meads Bay and had a quick look at the lovely Petals boutique there.
We went to Blanchards Beach Shack for lunch and that was wonderful. A brilliant concept of Caribbean street food with tables located in the sand. A brilliant casual atmosphere and the food was probably the most tasty of the whole holiday so far. We were so impressed with the place and their varied menu that we have already decided that we would like to go back before the end of the holiday.
After lunch we visited the supermarket which was perfectly timed as we dodged a heavy rain shower. We did a bit of an island tour in the car before returning to the villa to relax.
Later in the afternoon we took a drive to Savannah Bay (where Nat's Place beach shack is located) and had a wander around. Due to beach erosion there wasn't as much beach there as we remembered.
For dinner we initially drove to Cuisinart Resort but found that there Japanese restaurant was closed. We headed to Sandy Ground instead and opted for the Sand Bar restaurant overlooking the sea. Their tapas menu suited us perfectly and we really enjoyed the food and location.

Day 11: 1st Nov

sunny 30 °C

We had breakfast up in the 'crow's nest' looking out towards St. Martin. We chilled at the villa all morning and then went out for lunch to Da Vida, a beautifully located restaurant on the beach. The food and drinks were both super and it was a real treat to taste anguillan crayfish again.
After lunch we relaxed at the villa and decided that after our big lunch we would just have some snacks for dinner at the villa.

Day 10: 31st Oct

sunny 30 °C

After a final delicious capuccino for breakfast we left our villa and dropped off our jeep at the ferry dock. We caught the 10:30am ferry to St. Martin and then a taxi to the Marigot ferry dock where we boarded a boat to take us to part 2 of our holiday, Anguilla.
Once we arrived in Aunguilla we were met by a representative from the car rental company and Stephen, our villa manager.
We followed Stephen to our villa in the Seafeathers area and he give us a thorough tour of the villa.
We took the opportunity to unpack and visit a couple of supermarkets when a rain storm appeared.
For dinner we visited the high end Viceroy hotel and their Japanese restaurant. We were so impressed with the drinks, sushi and laid back elegance of the resort.
